Lab 4 — Implementation (Five Iterations)

Overview
Lab 4 is the longest lab — spanning five sub-parts (4.0 through 4.5) that correspond to the implementation iterations of your project. Each sub-lab builds on the previous one.
Lab 4.0 — Project Scaffolding (Points: 50)
"Sprint 0" — establish infrastructure, action plan, and blueprints.
Infrastructure Setup (DevOps): - [ ] Create a private GitHub repository from the template - [ ] Invite team members, mentors, and TAs as collaborators - [ ] Enable Discussions, Projects, and Wikis on the repo
Action Plan (Project Management): - [ ] Set up Project Board with appropriate columns - [ ] Create milestones for all 5 iterations - [ ] Convert requirements into issues with acceptance criteria - [ ] Prioritize and assign issues to iterations
Blueprints (Design/UX): - [ ] Wireframes for all core screens - [ ] High-fidelity mockups (finalized from Lab 3 feedback) - [ ] Design system / style guide decisions
Lab 4.1 — Iteration 1 (Points: TBD)
First working increment. Focus on: - Core feature vertical slice - CI pipeline green - Basic tests passing - First release tag

Incremental delivery: - Additional features per roadmap - ADR updates for design decisions made - Status report
Lab 4.3 — Iteration 3 (Points: TBD)
Mid-course refinement: - Feature completion toward MVP - Testing expansion - Performance / UX check
Lab 4.4 — Iteration 4 (Points: TBD)
Hardening: - Edge case coverage - Error handling - Documentation updates
Lab 4.5 — Iteration 5 (Points: TBD)
Final polish: - Release candidate - Final testing pass - Handoff documentation
🧪 Research connection: The Lab 4.0 grading pipeline uses a staged AI evaluation system (Extractor → Validator → Scorer) developed by the CSED Lab. This system processes student submissions through five phases: data ingestion, staged AI evaluation, post-hoc calibration, human-in-the-loop review, and Canvas export.

Prerequisite: ALL team members must complete Parts 1 and 2 of the GitHub Workshop before starting Lab 4.0.
